Can I just drop my kids off?No (sorry!). Wonder Seekers Sensory Play is not a childcare, family day care, or babysitting service. This is a parent-supervised activity, and each parent is responsible for the full supervision and care of their child/children at all times, particularly when using small loose parts and interacting in water play. Children must not be left alone at any time and parents are responsible for their own children and their actions.
-
Are all of your trays food-based and what does taste safe mean? No, not all our bases are food. While we want to provide a safe sensory play environment, particularly for young babies and toddlers (who tend to put everything in their mouths!), we are mindful of food usage and do not use any products containing nuts, soy, dairy or eggs in our activities. However, some products used do have an allergy warning stating "may contain traces of" these allergens. Taste safe means that your little one will be fine if they do happen to have a little taste, however, the activities are not intended to be eaten. All materials that are used are food based are prepared and stored in a safe manner in a smoke and pet-free home. We will incorporate natural elements (i.e. ones that cannot be eaten) and other props in our environment to promote a sustainable play space.

What age does my child have to be?For our school-term sessions, we offer experiences for children aged 6 months to 4 years. Babes-in-arms under 6 months of age (who are attending with an older sibling) are welcome to come along to our sessions, free of charge. Once bub hits 6 months and they’re ready to join the fun more actively, you will need to purchase a ticket for them. We also welcome children over 4 years old, however, sessions are specifically designed for children within this age group, so please consider this when booking in.
-
What can I expect from the session? We run an unstructed session that will incorporate different elements each week. When you arrive at our session you and your child/ren are welcome to dive straight in and explore everything on offer. Our sessions have a capped number of participants to ensure your little one gets the most out of the environment and the activities available. Parents are encouraged to get involved with and connect with their little ones to create some special memories through play. It is likely you will get messy too, but we're sure you won't mind too much! Each week, we will focus on a different theme and base our sensory and messy play experiences around it. We will often have books, and musical instruments, for children to explore. At the end of each session, we may hold an informal group book reading or join together for morning tea to help with the transition home. Otherwise, you are welcome to depart when you and your child/ren are ready :)

What should I wear and what should I bring? We recommend wearing suitable weather clothing for outdoor play, something that you don’t mind getting dirty and something suitable to play in the sun. A change of clothes, towel, wet wipes, water and food, hat, mosquito repellent, and sun cream, as well as anything else your little one needs to feel comfortable during and after playing. We will have a tub of water available to help rinse off any mess after playing. Please note: Wonder Seekers Sensory Play takes no responsibility for any staining or damage that may happen to your or your child’s clothing.

How do I care for my dry sensory base/ pour and play kits?Your Sensory Base has been lovingly handmade, using non-toxic materials, and designed to spark creativity, imagination, and sensory exploration. Store your sensory bases in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. If the bases are damp, allow them to dry completely before storage to prevent any potential mold growth. Dispose of any bases that become water-logged. Regularly check the sensory bases for any signs of deterioration/ mould. Colours will 'run' or 'wash off' some elements so avoid mixing with water or wet bases. Our sensory bases, while non-toxic, are not made for consumption. Please ensure your child understands this. Always supervise your child during playtime with the sensory bases. Ensure hands & surfaces are cleaned before and after playing with the sensory bases to maintain their integrity and longevity. Mixing sensory bases with other items e.g. playdough, may reduce the shelf life. Due to the handmade nature of this product, there may be some slight variation in colour, texture, and shape. When cared for properly, these sensory bases will provide hours of educational, sensory fun. Add toys, trays, spoons and other natural elements!

Production times will remain the same, but we will organise a mutually convenience time for you to collect your goodies from our home base. Please see Shipping Policy for more information.

How do I care for my playdough?Your playdough has been handmade, using non-toxic ingredients, and can have a long shelf life if cared for and stored correctly. After this time, we do recommend disposing of the playdough to avoid any cross-contamination. Play with playdough regularly! If playdough dries, knead until dry sections are mixed in, or add water drop by drop until restored. Replace if hard, crumbly, overly salty, discolored, or mouldy. Ensure playdough is stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge for longevity. Remember, playdough is entirely food-based and is perishable. Use playdough with hands that are clean and dry and play on a clean and dry surface. Mixing playdough with other items e.g. sensory bases, natural flora etc, may reduce the shelf life. Although the ingredients in the playdough are non-toxic, it is not meant to be eaten, consumed, or used as a cosmetic product. Supervise young children while they play to ensure they use it correctly and do not ingest it. After playing, ensure all playdough is thoroughly washed off any tools and surfaces.

What are my items made from?PLAYDOUGH We use natural ingredients to make the playdough (plain wheat flour, salt, sunflower oil, cream of tartar and water), as well as fruit, vegetable & plant-based dyes, and food flavourings & essential oils to scent the dough. Our playdough contains plain wheat flour, so please consider allergies before purchasing. POTION POWDER We use natural ingredients to make our potion powder (bi carb of soda, corn flour and citric acid), as well as fruit, vegetable & plant-based dyes, and food flavourings & essential oils to scent the powder. All of which is safe for little hands. We don't recommend using it on open wounds. SENSORY BASES We use a mixture of natural ingredients and non-toxic ingredients to make our sensory bases, as well as fruit, vegetable & plant-based dyes, non-toxic paints and essential oils to provide scent. Although our ingredients are non-toxic, they are not intended for consumption.

How do I care for my Magic Fizzing Potion Powder?Your Potion Powder has been lovingly handmade, and designed to spark your child's creativity and sensory exploration. To use, add water slowly using a dropper, spray bottle or spoon for the best effect! Always store Potion Powder in the provided airtight container or sealed plastic bag and keep it in a cool and dry place and away from direct sunlight. Potion Powder can become ‘hard’ if exposed to moisture - simply break it up or use it as is. Ensure hands are cleaned before and after playing with the Potion Powder. Do not use on open wounds. Although the ingredients in the Potion Powder are non-toxic, it is not meant to be eaten, consumed, or used as a cosmetic product. Supervise young children while they play to ensure they use it correctly and do not ingest it. After each play session, ensure all Potion Powder is thoroughly washed off any tools and surfaces.

What happens if my little one eats some playdough? While we use only non-toxic items, playdough is not meant for eating! If your little one takes a bite, it won't harm them but we do suggest not giving playdough to children under 3 years old, or who still put items other than food, in their mouths.
